Today the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera published: many tourists (mainly Brazilian, Russian, Indian and Chinese) confuse the tourist points and look for the Parthenon in Rome.

According to Federalberghi, many tourists do not distinguish the Imperial Court in Rome with Athene’s Parthenon. They come to the margins of Tiber river in Rome and ask where they can find the Parthenon, to Italian’s astonishment.

partenoneThese data, amongst others, were publicized during the hotelier day, the event that reached its 10th edition and that counted with 500 attendees.

The economic crisis changed the tourism panorama and it isn’t Italy anymore who choose the tourist, but the tourists are who choose Italy. Some curiosities were widely commented, underlining the new approach needed with the new wave of tourism that comes from the emergent countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China). The Russians give a lot of importance to the hotel position, to a warm and salted breakfast and people who speak their language. Indians appreciate the physical contact, but not beyond a hand tight, and they need spices in their menu. Chinese doesn’t appreciate Italians’ excessive cordiality. Brazilians like big rooms and often are afraid of visiting the old town centers believing it’s risky.
